Registration is now open for Summer 2021 Outdoor Season.
2021 will look very different this year. Due to AHS restrictions training with the possibility of playing touch rugby later in the year will be available at a much reduced cost.
The training schedule will be Tuesdays and Thursdays at Mitford Ponds 7-8pm and it will be co-ed whilst we are in the early stages of Return to Play. If and when we return to full contact then the girls and boys will be separated for training and games.
Adults are currently not allowed to play under AHS Covid restrictions. This means if you are aged 19 or older you cannot register to play rugby at the moment.
Players aged 17 and 18 are allowed to register as seniors but the day they turn 19 they must stop under the current restrictions.
The registration fee includes shorts and socks and insurance for the whole season (summer and fall).
The socks and shorts should be worn to all games. Cleats are also required - please ensure they are soccer cleats i.e. they must not have the extra toe cleat required for some other sports. Mouthguards are essential at both games and training. All jewelry should be removed or covered with plasters at the very least and long hair should be tied back.
The junior programs are gender specific and include age grades U13, U15, U17 and U19. The aim for all our junior programs is to achieve the goals set out in the Rugby Canada Long Term Athlete Development Plan with an emphasis on personal development and what we call ?Fundamental Team Identity?.
Fundamental Team Identity covers our primary objectives, being fun, sportsmanship, team work, respect and discipline, inclusivity and hard work. A child's age grade is determined by their age on January 1 each year. i.e. A child that turns 13 years old on January 2, would still fall under a U13 registration even though they are 13 years old at the start of the summer season.
There is an option for a child to play either higher or lower than their age grade. This is determined by height, weight and experience. If you feel your child fits into this category contact F Horton at admin@bowvalleyrugby.com as forms and assessments may have to be carried out for safety purposes.
***Unfortunately there will not be any league games this year.***
Normally the season starts once the high school rugby season ends (around mid-May) and runs through summer. During the month of September, the games at CRU will be sevens format.
***All of our dates are dependent on the weather. If the fields are covered in snow or waterlogged then the Town of Cochrane may delay the opening. The best way to always find out about field closures is to ring 403 851 2552 option 2 after 4pm on every practice day. We will always try to get word out to our teams in time via Facebook and Teamsnap but for those travelling a great distance please do check this line before you travel. CRU very rarely closes but if they do decide to for whatever reason, notification will generally go out Friday evening and ,of course, we will get word to you through Teamsnap.***
New players are always welcome to come along and join in or just drop by and have a chat to find out what rugby and the Club are all about.
